Deadly Russian Barrage Kills 10 as Ukraine Strikes Oil Tankers and Export Terminal

Russian drone and missile strikes across Ukraine have killed at least 10 people and wounded 76 over the past day, local officials reported. The attacks hit five regions, including Kherson, Odesa, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Sumy.

In response, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukrainian forces had struck two Russian oil tankers near the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk and heavily damaged an oil terminal in the Leningrad region. He described the tankers as part of Russia's "shadow fleet" used to bypass Western sanctions.

Ukraine's military said it intercepted most of the approximately 270 drones and a ballistic missile launched by Russia. Meanwhile, Russia reported that Ukraine fired at least 334 drones, with the Leningrad region facing the heaviest assault.

Recent weeks have seen a series of successful Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil infrastructure, which Kyiv says have disrupted billions of dollars in exports. On Sunday, Zelensky posted black-and-white video footage appearing to show a naval drone approaching one of the tankers.

Russian authorities have largely downplayed the impact, but the Kremlin is increasingly concerned about Ukrainian drones reaching deep into Russian territory. On Wednesday, Moscow announced it would scale back its annual Victory Day parade due to what it called the "terrorist threat" from Ukraine.
