Debrunner Dominates: Swiss Star Claims Fourth London Marathon Title in Five Years

Switzerland's Catherine Debrunner has cemented her status as the dominant force in women's wheelchair racing, claiming her fourth London Marathon victory in five years. The 32-year-old outpaced American rival Tatyana McFadden in a thrilling finish, crossing the line first in the elite women's wheelchair race.

"She is the woman to beat," said commentators after Debrunner's commanding performance. The Swiss athlete has now won the London Marathon in 2021, 2022, 2024, and 2026, missing only 2023 due to injury.

Debrunner's victory continues her remarkable run of form, which includes multiple major marathon wins worldwide. McFadden, a 21-time major marathon winner, pushed Debrunner hard but could not match her pace on the final stretch.

The race was part of the 2026 London Marathon, which also featured elite able-bodied runners and mass participation events. Debrunner's win adds to her growing legacy in wheelchair athletics, where she is widely regarded as one of the greatest ever.

"I feel amazing," Debrunner said after the race. "London is such a special course, and to win here again means so much. The competition is getting tougher every year, but I love the challenge."

Debrunner's next target will be the Paralympic Games, where she aims to add to her collection of gold medals.
