DeMarcus Cousins Reveals Strategy to Contain Victor Wembanyama

Shutting down Victor Wembanyama is an impossible task, but four-time NBA All-Star DeMarcus Cousins has shared his blueprint for slowing down the 7'4" superstar.

In an exclusive interview with TMZ Sports at LAX, Cousins—known as "Boogie"—offered his take on defending the San Antonio Spurs phenom, who has taken the league by storm.

"First, I'm going to say it's probably easier said than done. He's one of one. This is something new to the game in general," Cousins said, acknowledging the unique challenge Wembanyama presents.

His primary advice? Make the game physical.

"I think your best chance is trying to make the game physical for him, make it really uncomfortable. And, you know, that's limited in today's game. But, as far as whatever's allowed, you try to be as physical as possible."

Cousins also emphasized the importance of disrupting Wembanyama's rhythm.

"I think just crowding his space, crowding him to the point where he's never really comfortable in his movements throughout the game."

Wembanyama, who weighs 235 lbs, has been averaging over 22 points and 12 rebounds in the playoffs, including a monstrous 41-point, 24-rebound performance in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. Despite the difficulty, Cousins believes a physical, space-crowding approach is the best chance to contain the "Alien."
