Deontay Wilder Faces Civil Lawsuit Alleging Assault of Ex-Partner's Son, Denies Claims as 'Fabrications'

Deontay Wilder's legal team has issued a firm denial of allegations that the former world heavyweight boxing champion physically assaulted the son of his ex-partner, calling the claims "complete and utter fabrications."

Kerron Swift, the son of Wilder's former fiancée Telli Swift, has filed a civil lawsuit in Los Angeles against the boxer, alleging battery, assault, emotional distress, and false imprisonment. The lawsuit claims the incidents occurred between 2016 and 2024, a period during which Swift was a minor.

Wilder's attorney, Paul Patterson, confirmed the lawsuit had been filed but stated his client "vehemently denies" the allegations.

"Deontay has never physically disciplined any child," Patterson said. "These accusations are riddled with complete and utter fabrications. We look forward to defending this case."

The timing of the lawsuit has sparked controversy, with Patterson suggesting it represents a "classic smear campaign" intended to distract from Wilder's recent boxing victory. On Saturday, the 40-year-old American defeated British heavyweight Derek Chisora by split decision at London's O2 Arena, improving his professional record to 45-4-1.

However, the law firm representing Swift—the X-Law Group PC—told media outlet TMZ that they "filed this action quietly and without a press release—the opposite of what we would have done if the intent were to generate publicity."

The civil lawsuit adds another layer of complexity to Wilder's career, which has seen both championship glory and recent struggles in the ring. The boxer had lost four of his previous six bouts before Saturday's victory over Chisora.

As the legal process unfolds, Wilder's team maintains their position that the allegations are without merit, while Swift's representatives pursue their claims through the civil court system.
