The familiar faces of TLC's Welcome to Plathville have officially closed the chapter on their marriage. Ethan and Olivia Plath's divorce has been legally finalized, marking the definitive end of their five-year union.
According to court documents, a Minnesota judge officially terminated the couple's marriage on February 25. While the 27-year-old reality television stars publicly announced their breakup in October 2023, the legal filings reveal that their actual separation date was much earlier—February 25, 2022.
The pair's divorce settlement outlines a clear division of their shared assets, with both parties agreeing to waive any claims to spousal support. Ethan will retain his various investments alongside his beloved collection of vintage cars. Meanwhile, Olivia maintains full ownership of her photography and branding business, Sunshine Media, and drives away with their 2016 Subaru Outback.
The dissolution of the marriage follows years of documenting their relationship struggles, as well as navigating the complex dynamics of Ethan's parents, Kim and Barry Plath. When Ethan initially addressed the split in a since-deleted Instagram post last fall, he admitted that despite giving the relationship everything they had, it simply wasn't enough to bridge their differences.
"It seemed we were constantly pulling each other in opposite directions in life with different goals," Ethan wrote at the time, adding that he will always care for Olivia deeply and wishes her the best.
Olivia also shared her own reflections when the split went public, attributing much of their incompatibility to marrying at such a young age. Having tied the knot at just 18 years old after a brief separation, she confessed to having "ambivalent memories" of their early, innocent dreams of forever.
"At 18 I didn't know who I was or what kind of life I wanted to create for myself," she explained, noting that she is now prioritizing a personal journey of "questioning, deconstructing and rebuilding."
Despite the permanent end of their marital ties, Olivia expressed genuine gratitude for the time they shared. Acknowledging that they fell in love as children but had to part ways as adults, she publicly thanked Ethan for the good memories they built together as they both look ahead to their independent futures.
