Doorbell Screamer Hit With Felony Charges, Bail Raised to $250K

The man identified as the viral "creepy doorbell guy" who kicked and screamed at a Northern California home through a Ring camera has been formally charged with four felonies, and his bail has been raised to $250,000.

Jason Nichols, 34, was charged with first-degree burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats, and vandalism, according to court documents obtained by TMZ. He pleaded not guilty to all counts and was issued a criminal protective order.

The incident, captured on doorbell video earlier this month, showed Nichols shouting and kicking at the camera before allegedly breaking into the home through a sliding glass door. Fairfield police responded within minutes of the April 7 call and took Nichols into custody outside the residence. He was treated at a hospital before being booked.

The homeowner's husband was reportedly watching the live feed from his phone while his wife and child were inside the house. He rushed home, grabbed a shovel, and confronted Nichols, leading to a violent struggle that left both men with head injuries.

Nichols remains in custody. His next court appearance has not yet been scheduled.
