The premiere of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Rhode Island wasted no time delivering the drama, with breakout star Kelsey Swanson immediately catching the attention of viewers—and her co-stars—thanks to her highly unusual romantic life.
During the reality show's April 2 debut, the 31-year-old former Miss Rhode Island pulled back the curtain on her "unorthodox" living situation. For the past decade, Swanson has enjoyed a life of luxury, residing in a sprawling 16,000-square-foot mansion equipped with four kitchens and a staggering 79 televisions. The estate is funded by her wealthy, secretive boyfriend, who hails from one of the state's most prominent families.
However, there is a major catch to her high-society lifestyle. For five months out of the year, her unnamed partner relocates to Miami, where he lives with another woman.
"My relationship is very unorthodox," Swanson candidly shared in a confessional interview. "This man dates multiple people. For the first half of the year, my man is in Miami and, when he's in Miami, he's with somebody else."
While the arrangement has afforded her a "lady of leisure" lifestyle, Swanson admitted that crossing the threshold into her thirties has her reevaluating her future. She expressed a growing desire for a traditional, committed relationship, though she acknowledged that her current partner has no intentions of changing his ways.
"He is who he is, and either I accept it, or I have to leave," she noted.
