Italy's Edoardo Molinari will officially resume his duties as vice-captain for Team Europe at the 2027 Ryder Cup, hosted at Adare Manor in Limerick, Ireland.

This appointment marks the third consecutive time the 46-year-old will serve as a key strategist under captain Luke Donald. The pair has already proven to be a formidable leadership duo, guiding the European squad to back-to-back triumphs at Rome's Marco Simone in 2023 and New York's Bethpage Black last year.

The highly anticipated biennial clash between Europe and the United States is slated for September 17–19, 2027.

Molinari, whose data-driven approach has become a cornerstone of Europe's modern Ryder Cup strategy, eagerly accepted the invitation.

"It was a very easy decision when Luke called me and asked me if I was willing to help him again," Molinari explained. "I think any time you can get involved in the Ryder Cup, in any role, it's a great thing and I cannot wait for Adare Manor."

The Italian golfer also highlighted the unique atmosphere expected in Ireland, particularly following a notoriously rowdy New York crowd. He praised Irish golf fans for being fiercely passionate and loud, yet deeply respectful of the competitors on the course.

Molinari's appointment makes him the first confirmed member of Donald's 2027 backroom staff. Donald, meanwhile, is entering historic territory himself. As the first European captain to lead three consecutive campaigns since Bernard Gallacher (1991–1995), the former world number one is on a quest to become the first-ever captain to secure three consecutive Ryder Cup victories.

To achieve that, Donald is relying heavily on Molinari's knack for uncovering marginal gains.

"Edoardo has been a rock of support to me. He has made such a difference to our team," Donald remarked. "He is invaluable from a statistical analysis perspective, in terms of helping me with the qualification system, navigating the ever-changing world of golf... He is always looking at how to gain those edges, through statistics, through looking at the course and how you can set it up."

On the opposing side, Team USA will be desperate to break a decades-long curse, having not won a Ryder Cup on European soil since their 1993 victory at The Belfry. The American team's leadership remains in question after 50-year-old Tiger Woods, a heavy favorite for the captaincy, recently withdrew from consideration following a DUI arrest.
