Educators Share Strategies for Using Open Educational Resources in Biology Teaching

A recent workshop titled "Teaching Biology with OER" explored how open educational resources (OER) can transform biology instruction. Hosted by the UROpenEd Program, the session featured Laura Ambrose and focused on practical approaches for integrating freely available, adaptable materials into biology curricula. Participants discussed the benefits of OER in reducing costs for students, increasing access to up-to-date content, and enabling instructors to customize resources to fit their teaching needs. The event highlighted tools and platforms for finding, evaluating, and creating OER, as well as best practices for managing OER projects.
