Ellen DeGeneres is diving back into her most iconic role. The former talk show host will reprise the voice of Dory in a new short film set in the Finding Nemo universe, according to Deadline. Details remain scarce, but the project marks her first acting gig since the 2021 mini-series Pixar Popcorn, where she also voiced the forgetful blue tang.

DeGeneres first brought Dory to life in 2003's Oscar-winning Finding Nemo and returned for the 2016 sequel Finding Dory, which grossed over $1 billion worldwide.

The 68-year-old comedian has been candid about stepping away from Hollywood after her daytime show ended in 2022 amid toxic workplace allegations. In her 2024 Netflix special Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval, she joked about being "kicked out of show business" and said the special would be her last appearance. Yet here she is, swimming back into the spotlight.

Since moving to the English countryside with her wife Portia de Rossi, DeGeneres has embraced a quieter life, raising chickens and enjoying the simpler things. The new short film, however, proves she's not quite ready to fade into the background.
