Emily Blunt has shared amusing behind-the-scenes moments from filming the upcoming sequel to The Devil Wears Prada, including playful teasing from her real-life brother-in-law Stanley Tucci.
During the New York City premiere, Blunt revealed that Tucci would frequently call her "shameless" between takes. "Whenever they would cut," she explained, "Stan would be like, 'You're shameless. Shameless.'" The actress admitted the teasing was about "how much I was overacting," and expressed disappointment that they didn't share more scenes in the final film.
"Stan and I were so angry that they didn't give us more to do together," Blunt quipped. "If we do another one, they better have us joined at the hip."
The two actors have a unique connection beyond their on-screen roles—Tucci is married to Blunt's sister Felicity, whom Emily introduced to the actor after they co-starred in the original 2006 film.
Blunt also shared that filming was filled with laughter, particularly during scenes with newcomer Justin Theroux, who plays her onscreen boyfriend. "They let us have free reign to improv whatever we wanted, which was probably a terrible mistake," she joked. "A lot of the scenes were unusable because we were laughing so much."
The actress said her family is equally excited about her return to the iconic role of Emily Charlton. "My kids are thrilled. My kids' friends are thrilled," she shared, noting that the film "brings people together. It's like a big old nostalgia bomb."
The sequel, set for release on May 1, marks the return of original stars including Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep, continuing the story that has remained culturally relevant nearly two decades after the original film's release.
