Emily Blunt has let slip that her husband John Krasinski almost triggered the “ick” with his Golden Globes wardrobe choice earlier this year.
Appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on April 28, Blunt recalled how Krasinski pitched his red-carpet look: a black turtleneck paired with a suit jacket. “When John pitched me this outfit and he was like, ‘And it’s a turtleneck,’ I had to compose my face into, like, impassive, ‘Oh, that sounds great,’ you know?” she said.
Despite her initial reservations, the Devil Wears Prada star admitted the final result was surprisingly stylish. “I thought he looked like Michael Caine,” she confessed. “He looked so cool. ‘60s vibe. But normally a man in a turtleneck gives me the ick.”
Blunt, who shares daughters Hazel, 12, and Violet, 9, with the The Office actor, also shared other fashion no-nos for men. “I don’t mind a James Dean leather jacket,” she explained, “but [not] if we’re looking at a dad leather jacket, where it’s a little bomber jacket and it’s very shiny and tight and cropped.”
While her family may not always welcome her styling advice, they are big fans of her work in the original The Devil Wears Prada and are eagerly awaiting the sequel, which premieres May 1. Blunt recently told E! News that her children saw the first film about a year ago and “just love it.” She also revealed her husband’s praise for the upcoming sequel, saying, “He loves this one. He’s a massive fan of the first movie, so I think everyone was thrilled.”
