Ethan Hawke is over the moon about his daughter Maya Hawke's marriage to musician Christian Lee Hutson.
In an exclusive interview at the Time100 Gala on April 23, the actor opened up about seeing the 27-year-old Stranger Things star walk down the aisle on Valentine's Day. "It means a lot because she's so happy and I love her husband," Hawke told E! News. "I feel like a really lucky man to watch her be so happy and to know that she's with somebody that I respect so much."
The Dead Poets Society star, who shares Maya and son Levon, 24, with ex-wife Uma Thurman, also said giving away the bride at the star-studded wedding—which included Maya's Stranger Things co-stars Finn Wolfhard, Sadie Sink, and Joe Keery—was an "incredible experience."
But Hawke, 55, couldn't resist a playful jab. He revealed that his youngest daughter, Clementine, 17, sent him a text before the gala: "You may be Time100 but you're the number one most influential man in my life." Hawke quipped, "Not very many people would say that but I'm glad one of my kids does."
Despite the honor, Hawke remains humble, noting that his children have "heard everything I have to offer, like, seven times or 15 times."
For Hawke, the true reward is his passion for acting. "If you love what you do, it's infinitely fascinating to you," he said. "One lifetime is not enough to be good at this job, so that part is easy for me."
