The family of lifestyle influencer Ashlee Jenae is speaking out following her sudden and unexplained death during what was supposed to be a celebratory birthday trip to Tanzania.
Ashlee Jenae, whose legal name was Ashly Robinson, was celebrating her 31st birthday at the luxurious Zuri Zanzibar resort with her fiancé, Joe McCann, when tragedy struck. According to a family statement released Sunday, Robinson was found unconscious in her villa just days into the vacation and was rushed to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead hours later.
"At this time there is an active investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ashly's suspicious passing," the family stated. "Although we have many questions, we are placing our trust in the officials in Zanzibar and are working closely with them as we seek clarity and answers."
The influencer's final social media posts painted a picture of a joyous celebration. Just days before her death, she shared a video of McCann proposing to her during a safari. Her last post, dated April 5—her birthday—showed her feeding a giraffe with "HBD Ashlee" spelled out in rose petals at her feet. The caption read: "Chapter 31 and I'm exactly where I need to be."
Authorities in Zanzibar have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Robinson's death, which the family has described as "suspicious." No further details about the investigation have been released publicly.
