Family of ‘Menace II Society’ Actor Samuel Monroe Jr. Seeks Help with Medical Costs Through GoFundMe

The family of Samuel Monroe Jr., best known for his role in the 1993 classic “Menace II Society,” has launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover mounting medical bills as he remains hospitalized battling meningitis.

Monroe, 52, has been on life support at a Southern California hospital for three days, according to his wife, Shawna Stewart. The prognosis remains uncertain.

In a statement provided to TMZ, Stewart said the funds raised will go directly toward medical expenses and supporting the couple’s two children, Kingston and Brooklynn, during this difficult time. “Every donation, no matter the size, will help ease the burden on Samuel’s family,” the campaign reads.

Monroe’s health struggles began about 18 months ago when he contracted meningitis while filming a movie in Las Vegas. Stewart said the condition was repeatedly misdiagnosed, leading to a steady decline in his health.

In addition to “Menace II Society,” Monroe’s acting credits include “Tales from the Hood,” “Set It Off,” “The Players Club,” “Out All Night,” “NYPD Blue,” and the Wayans Brothers spoof “Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood.”
