A grassroots initiative led by devoted fans is creating a comprehensive digital archive to honor the groundbreaking work of the late producer and musician SOPHIE. The project, named WHOLENEW.WORLD, aims to compile and preserve the artist's entire creative output, ensuring her influential legacy endures for future generations.
SOPHIE, the pioneering Scottish artist known for pushing electronic music into uncharted territories, tragically passed away in January 2021. Despite releasing only two studio albums—2015's 'Product' and 2018's 'Oil Of Every Pearl's Un-Insides'—her innovative sound has profoundly shaped contemporary pop, inspiring artists like Charli XCX, Vince Staples, FKA twigs, Jack Antonoff, and Sam Smith.
"The site is currently a work-in-progress, but already includes an extensive selection of live sets from as far back as 2010 and all the way up to 2020," the organizers noted.
The archive will feature live performances, official releases, photoshoots, and interviews, offering a holistic view of SOPHIE's career. The team behind WHOLENEW.WORLD has emphasized their commitment to ethical preservation, stating they will not host leaked material but will provide accurate information to counter misinformation surrounding some of her unreleased works.
This fan-driven effort highlights the enduring impact of SOPHIE's artistry, celebrating her role as a visionary who redefined sound and identity in modern music. As the archive grows, it promises to become an essential resource for fans, scholars, and musicians alike, keeping her revolutionary spirit alive in the digital age.
