Farage Claims Reform UK 'Forced' End to Birmingham Bin Strike

Nigel Farage has asserted that his Reform UK party was responsible for pushing Birmingham City Council to announce a potential resolution to the city's bin strike.

Speaking to BBC Radio WM's Ed James, the Reform UK leader claimed that the ruling Labour group's statement—indicating that an end to the strike was "within sight"—was a direct result of his party's pressure. "They're terrified of us," Farage said, adding that it was "without a shadow of a doubt" due to Reform UK's influence.

On Monday, Birmingham City Council's Labour leader John Cotton revealed a new offer that would be put to striking workers, calling it "good for the workforce" and representing good value for money. Farage argued that this announcement was forced by Reform UK's campaigning.

The story continues to develop as local elections approach in 2026.
