For Ex-Packers Star Antonio Freeman, Son's World Cup Would Outshine His Super Bowl Glory

Antonio Freeman etched his name in NFL history with an 81-yard touchdown catch from Brett Favre in Super Bowl XXXI. But the former Green Bay Packers wide receiver says that moment would pale in comparison to watching his son play on soccer's biggest stage.

Freeman's 21-year-old son, Alex, is a defender on the U.S. Men's National Team, which is set to compete in the World Cup. In an exclusive interview with TMZ Sports, Antonio was asked how his Super Bowl win would stack up against the possibility of his son lifting the World Cup trophy.

"It's no comparison," Freeman said. "My Super Bowl was very special, but there's still no comparison to where he is right now as a 21-year-old, picked and selected as one of the 26 best in the United States of America to represent your team — something I never got a chance to do. He's among another echelon of elite, and him by far."

Freeman's pride was palpable as he spoke about his son's remarkable achievement. Alex's selection to the World Cup roster places him among an elite group of athletes, a feat his father says surpasses anything he accomplished on the gridiron.
