Former Child Star Blake Garrett’s Cause of Death Revealed: Fentanyl Overdose

Blake Garrett, known for his role in the 2006 film "How to Eat Fried Worms," died from acute fentanyl toxicity, according to the Oklahoma Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The manner of death was ruled an accident.

Garrett passed away in February at age 33 at a sober living house in Tulsa. His mother, Carol Garrett, had previously expressed concern that he may have accidentally overdosed while managing pain from a shingles diagnosis after three years of sobriety.

Born in Austin, Texas, Garrett began acting early, starring in local theater productions like "Aladdin and His Magical Lamp" and a Charlie Brown tribute before joining the "Barney's Colorful World International Tour" at age 10. His breakout role came in 2006 as Plug in "How to Eat Fried Worms," earning him a Young Artist Award for Best Young Ensemble Cast.

The medical examiner’s report confirms the tragic accident his mother feared.
