The death of a French streamer, known for subjecting himself to extreme challenges, has led to the conviction of two individuals on charges of aggravated violence.
Raphaël Graven, a 46-year-old internet personality, died in August 2025 in a village near Nice. His death was live-streamed on the platform Kick, where he had built a large following and regularly participated in stunts that involved humiliation and abuse.
Safine Hamadi and Owen Cenazandotti, the two men convicted in relation to Graven's death, claimed that their actions were consensual. However, they have each been issued suspended prison sentences and ordered to pay significant fines.
The court's decision not to charge the men with manslaughter was based on the probable cause of death being related to Graven's pre-existing poor health and fragile heart. Additionally, the men were acquitted of abusing Graven's psychological frailty, as he had previously stated that he had consented to the stunts.
The streaming platform Kick remains under investigation by French authorities, and the company has stated that it is not a party to the proceedings against Hamadi and Cenazandotti.
