The Kelce household is officially expanding its pack, but the naming process for their newest four-legged family member has been a bit of a rollercoaster.

Just days after introducing the world to their newly adopted German Shepherd puppy—initially dubbed Bernadette—Kylie Kelce revealed that her husband, retired Philadelphia Eagles star Jason Kelce, has already exercised his veto power.

Speaking on the April 2 episode of her Not Gonna Lie podcast, Kylie updated fans on the puppy's evolving identity.

"I’m the proud new dog mom to a German Shepherd puppy named not Bernadette," Kylie joked to her listeners. "That’s right, I said Jason might change it and he did. Her name is Matilda... We think."

While Matilda appears to be the current consensus, Kylie noted that the new moniker is actually a compromise, as Jason had heavily pushed for a far more eccentric choice.

"Broomhilda was a serious contender," Kylie deadpanned. "And I'm not saying that to be funny. Jason deadass thought we were going to name a dog Broomhilda."

Using her husband's wild pet name preferences as comedic ammunition, the podcast host playfully defended her track record of naming the couple's four daughters. "I want people to remember that the next time they come at me about how we named our four children, because do you see what I'm working with?" she laughed.

Jason's total control over the dog's name was part of a hard-fought negotiation. In a recent episode of Kylie's digital series FAFO, she documented her initial solo trip to the animal shelter. At the time, she admitted that when she asked Jason how angry he would be on a scale of one to 10 if she brought home a pet, he bluntly answered "10."

Six weeks later, Jason finally caved to the idea of adopting the German Shepherd—but strictly on the condition that he held exclusive naming rights.

The new arrival, who joins the family's older dog Patricia, has received mixed reviews from the Kelce children. While three-year-old Elliotte and five-year-old Bennett are absolutely thrilled about their furry sibling, the excitement isn't completely unanimous. According to Kylie, six-year-old Wyatt "couldn't care less," while 12-month-old Finnley is still blissfully unaware of the entire situation.
