Cara Delevingne is stepping into the spotlight as her music career takes off, and she has some superstar friends to thank for their support—chief among them, Taylor Swift.
The model and actress, who recently announced two new singles and a headlining tour, shared the advice Swift gave her about navigating the music world.
"The more you do, the more people there are gonna be that question it," Delevingne told E! News at Billboard's Women in Music event in Los Angeles on April 29. "Art is a pure expression of yourself. So, if you're doing what you feel is right, nothing else really matters."
She added that Swift taught her to focus on connecting with the right audience. "The only thing I want is for people to feel things from this music," Delevingne said.
But Swift isn't the only inspiration. Delevingne also credited Alanis Morissette and Fiona Apple as major influences for her upcoming tracks "I Forgot" and "Out of My Head," announced April 24.
"I probably wouldn't be standing here without Fiona Apple," Delevingne said. "She was one of my biggest idols—is one of my biggest idols. But also someone who really believed in me and gave me the confidence to continue."
Delevingne emphasized the power of female friendship, noting that these women have been "even more incredible than you'd think they'd be" and that she "wouldn't be alive without some of these women in my life."
She has also been a supportive friend to Swift, particularly in Swift's relationship with Travis Kelce. "There's definitely something very different about them," Delevingne told E! News in 2023. "I'm so, so happy for her."
