FTD Brothers Race Against Time to Beat Inherited Dementia

Two brothers known as the 'FTD Brothers' are undertaking extreme endurance challenges to fund research into a rare form of dementia that claimed their mother's life and that they both carry the gene for.

Jordan and Cian Adams lost their mother, Geraldine, to frontotemporal dementia (FTD) at just 52. After testing positive for the same genetic mutation, the siblings are racing to find a cure before their own symptoms appear.

In 2026, Jordan will run the London Marathon carrying a 25kg fridge. Immediately after, the pair will sprint across all 32 counties of Ireland in 32 days. Their mission is to raise awareness and funds for FTD research.

BBC Sport spoke to the brothers about their emotional journey and their determination to change the future for others at risk.
