In the latest episode of the 'Maddie is Online' series, the GenAISiS TRAIN project takes center stage. This initiative, funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and supported by Responsible AI UK, aims to equip educators with tools to teach ethical AI use, data privacy, and digital literacy to schoolchildren.

The project builds on previous work that involved students co-creating animated stories about responsible AI. Now, the GenAISiS TRAIN project seeks to expand this by developing a 'train-the-trainer' model for teachers, science centers, and public libraries. A key partner is the Aberdeen Science Centre, which will help disseminate the resources.

In this interview, the project co-investigator discusses the goals of the program, which include fostering critical thinking and responsible communication around AI. The resources make use of Plotagon, an animation tool, to create engaging educational content.

Project lead Konstantina Martzoukou and team members Pascal Chinedu Ezenkwu, Palika Vithana, and Lynda McCannach are driving this effort from Robert Gordon University. The project runs from January to March 2026, focusing on the UK.
