Professor Laurence Anthony presented a talk on November 25, 2025, exploring the symbiotic relationship between generative artificial intelligence and corpus linguistics. The session, titled "Symbiosis of Generative AI and Corpus Linguistics: An Integrated Approach for Research and Education," was part of the Corpus Linguistics and Applied Linguistics Research 2025 conference.

Anthony highlighted how generative AI tools can enhance corpus linguistics by enabling more sophisticated text analysis, pattern recognition, and language modeling. Conversely, corpus linguistics provides the structured, annotated datasets that improve AI training and output accuracy. The talk covered practical applications for both research and education, including automated corpus annotation, AI-assisted language teaching, and the development of more nuanced language models.

The event was co-organized by Professor Pascual Pérez-Paredes from the University of Murcia and Professor Angel Ma from the Education University of Hong Kong.
