Globe Telecom Inc., backed by Ayala, has announced a strategic partnership with First Gen Corp. to transition key operational facilities to renewable energy sources. This move marks a significant step in the company's sustainability efforts, reducing reliance on imported fossil fuels.
Under the new agreement, three Globe facilities in Mindanao will be powered by geothermal energy, while a site in Caloocan City will receive electricity from hydropower. This shift not only supports environmental goals but also enhances energy security for these critical locations.
"This partnership with First Gen allows us to integrate clean, renewable energy into our operations, aligning with our commitment to sustainable business practices," a Globe representative stated.
The initiative is part of Globe's broader strategy to incorporate renewable energy across its network, contributing to the Philippines' transition toward a greener energy landscape. By leveraging local renewable resources, the company aims to reduce its carbon footprint while maintaining reliable service for customers.
