Goldie Hawn isn't rushing back to the big screen. At 80 years old, the Oscar-winning actress has built an iconic career, but she's content to wait for the perfect project.

"It's about the content," Hawn told People in an interview published April 29. "Acting for acting's sake... I've read a lot of shows, a lot of scripts that I didn't like or I didn't think I'd fit. The one thing about acting is that I've done it, and I had a great career, and I honor that."

Hawn hasn't appeared in a major film since The Christmas Chronicles 2 (2020), where she starred alongside longtime partner Kurt Russell.

Reflecting on her decision to step back, she said: "I think ultimately every life has to have its sections. Doing the same thing over and over again for your whole life is not as interesting to me. And I decided at probably 55 or something, 'What are you going to do for this next part of your life?' And I knew that there was more out there to learn and to do."

But she hasn't closed the door on acting entirely. A compelling script could bring her back. "I would love to get a material that could actually be like, 'Oh my God, I want this so bad,'" she explained. "'This is so funny. She's so crazy. She's so interesting.' But I haven't come across it."

Another possibility: sharing the screen with her talented family, including daughter Kate Hudson and stepsons Oliver and Wyatt Russell. "It's such a great idea because we have so much talent," she admitted. "Never say never, because that could happen at any time."

Beyond acting, Hawn and Russell have largely left Hollywood behind, now splitting their time between Colorado and other locales. Russell praised their Colorado home, saying, "I like to wake up in bed each morning looking at the mountain out back."

Hawn's approach echoes a broader trend of stars leaving Tinseltown behind. Others who have made similar moves include Antonio Banderas, Ellen DeGeneres, Tyra Banks, and Eva Longoria, each seeking a simpler or more fulfilling life away from the industry.
