Google Cloud has introduced the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, a comprehensive upgrade to Vertex AI designed to enable businesses to build, deploy, and manage autonomous AI agents. The platform, announced in a blog post by Michael Gerstenhaber and Michael Bachman, represents a shift from managing individual tasks to delegating complete business outcomes.
The platform offers Agent Studio, a low-code visual tool for creating agents, and an enhanced Agent Development Kit (ADK) for developers. A key feature is the Memory Bank, which gives agents long-term memory to remember user preferences and history, enabling personalized experiences. The system supports over 200 models, including Google's Gemini 3.1 Pro and third-party models like Claude Opus.
Enterprise customers such as L'Oréal, PayPal, and Comcast are already using the platform to transform operations, from customer support to financial analysis. The platform also includes built-in Agent Identity for security, sub-second cold starts for scalability, and real-time simulation and evaluation tools for optimization.
