Google Photos is introducing a new AI-powered feature that turns your clothing photos into a digital wardrobe, letting you mix and match outfits and even virtually try them on. The feature, announced Wednesday, takes clear inspiration from the iconic virtual closet in the 1995 film 'Clueless,' where the protagonist Cher Horowitz digitally scrolls through her outfits to plan her day.
The tool will automatically scan your Google Photos library for clothing items, then organize them into categories like tops, bottoms, bags, and accessories. Users can filter by category, combine pieces to create new outfit combinations, and see how they look together through AI-generated previews. Google says the feature aims to simplify morning decisions and help users rediscover clothes they may have forgotten about.
The digital closet will roll out to Google Photos users in the coming weeks, initially available on Android and iOS. The feature underscores Google's broader push to integrate AI into everyday tools, making personal organization more intuitive and playful.
