Gorillaz Break New Ground with Historic Debut Concerts in India

The virtual band Gorillaz, led by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett, has officially announced its first-ever performances in India, marking a significant milestone in the group's global touring history. Scheduled for 2027, the shows will take place in two major cities: Bengaluru on January 23 at District Arena at Terraform, followed by Mumbai on January 27 at Jio World Garden in the Bandra Kurla Complex.

This landmark tour is closely tied to the band's latest album, 'The Mountain,' which was predominantly recorded in India. The concerts are expected to feature special guest appearances from several Indian collaborators who contributed to the album, adding a unique cultural fusion to the live experience.

In a statement, Damon Albarn expressed his long-held aspiration, saying, "It has been and remains a dream of mine to bring Gorillaz in all its technicolour glory to India. It's just the beginning and I truly look forward to the experience." Jamie Hewlett echoed the sentiment, noting, "Our dream has always been to do a tour of India. We're very excited about returning to play shows in Mumbai and Bengaluru."

The announcement has generated considerable excitement among fans in India, who have eagerly awaited the band's arrival for years. Tickets for the historic shows are now available, promising an immersive audiovisual spectacle that blends Gorillaz's signature animated characters with live musical performances.
