Gusty Winds Ground Anyma's Coachella Debut, Leaving Fans in Limbo

A highly anticipated performance by electronic music artist Anyma was abruptly canceled on the opening night of Coachella 2026, with festival organizers citing dangerous wind conditions as the cause.

The American-Italian DJ and producer, known for his elaborate audiovisual shows, was scheduled to take the main stage at midnight on April 11, following Sabrina Carpenter's headline set. However, just 15 minutes after his scheduled start time, a notification was sent to attendees via the official Coachella app announcing the cancellation.

"Due to strong wind conditions affecting Anyma's stage build, he is unable to perform," the official statement read. It further noted that the decision was made jointly by the festival and the artist, "with your safety as the priority."

Winds in the Indio Valley were reported to have reached up to 35 miles per hour over the weekend, raising concerns about the structural integrity of the complex stage setup Anyma had planned. The artist had previously hinted to NME about an ambitious show, promising "new characters, new songs and different perspectives on the storytelling."

It remains unclear whether the performance will be rescheduled for later in the festival, which continues through Sunday, April 12, and repeats the following weekend. Festival organizers stated that "further updates" would be provided, leaving fans of the dance music titan waiting for news on a potential make-up slot.

The last-minute cancellation underscores the logistical challenges of large-scale outdoor festivals, where even the most meticulously planned events can be upended by unpredictable weather.
