Nick Kroll has revealed that Harry Styles played a key role in helping him propose to his wife, Lily Kwong. The Big Mouth creator shared the story on the SmartLess podcast, explaining that the "Watermelon Sugar" singer assisted him while they were filming Don't Worry Darling in 2020.
"It was the height of Covid and I was proposing to my wife, and Harry sort of—we were planning it out," Kroll said. "We had just done the table read and we were all hanging out, and I was sort of figuring it out."
The proposal involved a simple but clever ruse: Kroll asked Kwong to move a box into their new home. "She was like, 'You make me move the f***ing box?'" he recalled. Inside the box were flowers and an engagement ring.
But Styles didn't stop there. Kroll noted that the singer checked in afterward to see how it went, before he even told his own family. "Harry checked in with me to be like, 'How did it go?'" Kroll said.
Despite Styles' involvement, the couple opted for an intimate wedding with just the two of them in Big Sur, California. "Weddings are beautiful, but they're also stressful with a lot of people around," Kroll told the Today show in 2020. "So, when you cut it down to just two people and a wedding officiant and a photographer, it was beautiful. It couldn't have been a more magical day."
Kroll and Kwong, who have since welcomed two children, son Leo and daughter Gaia, have kept their love story relatively private, but this charming anecdote reveals the unexpected role a global pop star played in their happy ending.
