Hayden Panettiere's estranged mother, Lesley Vogel, has publicly condemned the actress's forthcoming memoir, accusing her of exploiting family trauma for profit. In a statement to Page Six, Vogel described the book as "20 years of trauma" marketed as a money-making scheme.
Vogel claimed Panettiere exhibits a "personality style" marked by control, entitlement, and lack of empathy, adding that no amount of support would ever satisfy her. She alleged that after cutting off contact, Panettiere launched a "smear campaign" involving accusations and gaslighting.
The blowup follows Vogel's recent questioning of Panettiere's bisexuality claims. The memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning, is set for release on May 19, but the mother-daughter rift shows no signs of healing.
