The HCL-Foxconn joint venture has selected Taiwanese engineering company CTCI as its engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) partner for a semiconductor assembly and testing facility in Uttar Pradesh, valued at Rs 3,706 crore.
The facility will be one of India's first OSAT (outsourced semiconductor assembly and test) plants, aimed at building local semiconductor engineering talent and advancing the country's push for technology self-sufficiency.
However, key details such as construction timelines, first production milestones, and the number of jobs to be created have not yet been officially announced.
Despite the lack of specifics, the development marks a significant step in India's semiconductor ambitions, with the project expected to nurture a domestic pool of skilled engineers critical for long-term growth in the electronics sector.
