Heart Evangelista on Helping Others: 'My Points in Heaven Are What Matter Most'

In a candid interview, actress and fashion icon Heart Evangelista opened up about her philosophy on charity, emphasizing that her primary motivation is spiritual rather than public recognition.

During an appearance on 'Fast Talk with Boy Abunda' on Thursday, Evangelista discussed her recent private assistance to comedian Ate Gay, who is battling Stage 4 cancer. She revealed that the initial contact came through her assistant, and Ate Gay was unaware she was speaking directly with Evangelista at first.

'For me, it's sad but I've not given so much thought into it, but there's always gonna be color in whatever we do as public people,' Evangelista said. 'My points in heaven are far more important. One day, this can be a backtrack of how I was at a specific time. Life is too short, mas importante sa 'kin 'yung points ko sa heaven.'

The actress acknowledged feeling mixed emotions when Ate Gay publicly shared the story of her help. 'I felt uncomfortable na sinabi niya, pero salamat din kasi iba rin pala marinig na nagpapasalamat sa 'yo 'yung tao. Kasi most of the time, people don't really know it's me,' she admitted.

Evangelista expressed gratitude that she doesn't need to provide financial support to extended family members, allowing her to focus her resources on helping others. 'I work hard not just for me, but for a purpose, and for me to write a story that would be so great to read one day when I'm no longer here,' she added.

Ate Gay first revealed her cancer diagnosis in September 2025 on 'Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho,' prompting an outpouring of support from the entertainment community and beyond.
