Hezbollah and Israel Exchange Threats and Cross-Border Strikes

Tensions between Hezbollah and Israel escalated on Monday as the Iran-backed militant group reiterated its defiance and the Israeli defense minister threatened to "burn all of Lebanon."

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for several attacks on Israeli positions near the Lebanese border, while Israeli warplanes struck targets in southern Lebanon. The exchanges mark the most serious escalation since a 2006 war.

In a televised speech, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah said the group would continue its operations until a ceasefire is reached in Gaza. "Our front will remain active and our attacks will increase in intensity," he said.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant warned that if Hezbollah continues its aggression, Israel would respond with overwhelming force. "The price will be heavy for Lebanon and Hezbollah," he said during a visit to the northern border.

The cross-border violence has displaced thousands of civilians on both sides. International mediators are urging restraint, but no diplomatic breakthrough appears imminent.
