Homey has unveiled Climate Coaster, a smart drink coaster that integrates with the Homey Pro smart home hub to automatically keep your coffee warm or your beer cold. The coaster uses local AI to detect what type of beverage it's holding and adjusts its temperature accordingly, all without sending data to the cloud.
According to the company, the device runs all AI processing onboard, ensuring privacy and low latency. Climate Coaster is designed to pair seamlessly with Homey Pro, which already controls a wide range of smart home devices.
"Climate Coaster turns Homey Pro into a smart drink coaster that keeps your coffee warm and your beer cold. AI beverage detection runs locally," the company announced.
The coaster responds to different beverages: it will heat a cup of coffee to a preset warm temperature and chill a glass of beer or soda. The device was introduced on April 1, 2026, but the announcement appears to be a genuine product launch, not an April Fools' joke.
Early adopters can learn more and pre-order through the Homey website. The company also invites users to join the Homey Community for discussions and updates.
