Huawei has unveiled the Pura X Max, a new foldable smartphone with a wide "passport" aspect ratio, positioning itself ahead of competitors Apple and Samsung in the race to release such a device. The phone is set to launch in China on April 20th, alongside the Pura 90 series.
The Pura X Max’s wide aspect ratio should make it a better option for watching horizontal video.
While details remain limited, the design closely resembles early leaks of Apple's rumored iPhone Fold, suggesting Huawei may have beaten its rivals to market with this form factor. Both Apple and Samsung have been heavily speculated to be developing foldable phones with similar boxy, wide designs, but Huawei appears poised to release its version first.
The announcement highlights the ongoing innovation in foldable technology, with manufacturers exploring different aspect ratios to enhance user experience, particularly for media consumption like video viewing.
