Hugging Face and Cloudflare Join Forces for Real-Time Communication with FastRTC

Hugging Face and Cloudflare have announced a partnership to streamline real-time speech and video applications using FastRTC, a new framework designed to reduce latency and complexity in multimedia streaming.

The collaboration integrates FastRTC with Cloudflare's global edge network, enabling developers to build low-latency voice and video experiences without managing server infrastructure. FastRTC, developed by Hugging Face, provides a simple API for real-time communication, leveraging WebRTC standards.

"This partnership tackles the biggest hurdle in real-time AI: latency," said a Hugging Face spokesperson. "By combining FastRTC with Cloudflare's edge, we can offer seamless media streams that react instantly."

Cloudflare's Workers for Platforms will host FastRTC servers close to end users, reducing round-trip times. Initial tests show a 40% reduction in latency compared to centralized server setups.

Developers can now access FastRTC via Cloudflare's marketplace or directly from Hugging Face. The collaboration is open-source, with contributions welcomed from the community.
