Hugging Face has been selected by the French Data Protection Authority (CNIL) for its Enhanced Support program, which aims to help digital companies navigate data protection regulations. The program, which picked three companies out of over 40 candidates, will provide guidance on compliance with the GDPR and other privacy laws, particularly in the context of rapid advancements in artificial intelligence.
Hugging Face has a history of prioritizing privacy in its AI research, such as the BigScience Workshop and the BigCode project, which implemented measures like data governance and pseudonymization tools. The company hopes that the CNIL's expertise will further its efforts to ensure that machine learning technologies respect users' data rights.
