Hugh Skinner on Pigeon Phobias, Soap-Star Crushes, and His Most Awkward On-Set Moment

In a candid interview, British actor Hugh Skinner, 41, opens up about his irrational fear of pigeons, a childhood dream of joining a boyband, and a rather embarrassing on-set mishap involving nudity.

Skinner, known for his roles in W1A, Fleabag, and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, recalls the moment a pigeon got trapped in his flat for an extended period, permanently altering his feelings toward the birds. "It really changed how I feel about them," he admits.

He also confesses to having had a crush on the entire male cast of the Australian soap Neighbours during his youth. And when asked about his most embarrassing professional moment, Skinner reveals: "Walking on set naked when I wasn't supposed to be."

Currently, Skinner reprises his iconic character Will in the new series Twenty Twenty Six and stars in the BBC drama Two Weeks in August. He recently appeared in The Importance of Being Earnest at the National Theatre.
