I Am Maximus has etched his name into racing folklore by becoming the first horse in nearly half a century to reclaim the Grand National title, securing a dramatic victory at Aintree.
In a stunning comeback, the 2024 champion surged from behind under jockey Paul Townend to cross the finish line two-and-a-half lengths ahead of the pack. This remarkable win marks a triumphant return to the top after placing second in last year's race.
Willie Mullins has now matched a historic training record, becoming the first since Vincent O'Brien in the 1950s to win three consecutive Grand Nationals. This victory also marks his fourth overall, tying him with the legendary Irish trainer.
The success extended to owner JP McManus, who celebrated his fourth Grand National win. McManus-owned horses dominated the field, with Iroko finishing second and Johnnywho taking fourth place.
Out of 34 starters, only 16 managed to complete the grueling course, highlighting the race's notorious difficulty.
