India Crush England by 270 Runs in Dominant Test Victory at Lord's

England suffered a humiliating 270-run defeat in the one-off women's Test at Lord's as India completed a resounding victory before lunch on the final day.

Chasing an improbable target of 328 after starting the day at 130-6, England's faint hopes evaporated quickly when overnight batter Amy Jones was dismissed for 54, caught at mid-wicket. India's spinners then tore through the lower order, bowling England out for 186 and securing their second-largest Test win by runs.

The match marked a sad end for former captain Heather Knight and batter Tammy Beaumont, who both fell cheaply in England's second innings. Off-spinner Sneh Rana was the standout bowler, claiming 4-42, while Deepti Sharma chipped in with two wickets.

Sophie Ecclestone provided some late resistance, scoring her first international half-century off 61 balls before being bowled by Rana for 50. Ecclestone had earlier taken 5-118 in India's second innings, but England's batting frailties — averaging just four when the ball was bowled on the stumps across both innings — proved their undoing.

England now turn their attention to The Hundred, starting on 21 July, followed by a white-ball series against Ireland in September as they begin a transition period without Knight and Beaumont.
