India's digital public infrastructure (DPI) — including UPI, Aadhaar, and emerging AI-driven data layers — could contribute up to 4% of the country's GDP by 2030, according to a new NITI Aayog report titled 'DPI@2047 for Viksit Bharat'. The report describes the current period as a 'once-in-a-generation inflection point'.
However, the 4% GDP projection is based on modeled scenarios and depends on effective policy execution and adoption rates. It is not a guaranteed outcome.
On the positive side, DPI expansion integrated with AI has already shown measurable impact in direct benefit transfers and financial inclusion, lending credibility to the growth projections.
