Ireland Baldwin playfully credited her famous parents for her appearance after witnessing a touching social media moment between them.
The 30-year-old model commented on an Instagram post shared by her mother, actress Kim Basinger, on April 3. Basinger had posted a throwback clip from the 1991 film The Marrying Man, which she starred in with her then-husband Alec Baldwin, to mark the movie's 35th anniversary. The post also included birthday wishes for Alec, who turned 68 that day.
“That’s my parents!” Ireland wrote in the comments. “That’s why I’m so smokin HOT.”
In her caption, Kim Basinger reflected on the film's significance, calling it "a very special time in my life that I will be forever grateful for." She extended warm birthday wishes to her former co-star, writing, "Wishing him health… laughter…. and many more wonderful years with family and friends……always."
Alec Baldwin was visibly moved by the gesture. He responded in the comments, "This is remarkably kind and completely unexpected. Thank you, Vicky Vale, for my birthday wishes." Vicky Vale was Basinger's character in the 1989 film Batman.
The public exchange highlights the amicable relationship the former spouses have cultivated years after a difficult and highly publicized divorce, which was finalized in 2002. Basinger had previously spoken about the challenges their split posed for their daughter.
"Divorce is hard on a kid, no matter how you cut it," she told Net-A-Porter in 2016. "And ours was very public and nasty."
However, in a February 2025 interview with Variety, Basinger indicated they had found peace, stating, "Alec and I have a great relationship. I have great respect for where he is today, and his family."
Alec Baldwin is now married to Hilaria Baldwin, with whom he shares seven young children. He and Kim Basinger share one child, Ireland.
