Jada Pinkett Smith Dismisses Legal Claim Linking Her to Friend's Weight Gain

Jada Pinkett Smith is challenging a $3 million lawsuit filed by Bilaal Salaam, who claims to be a former friend of her husband, Will Smith. In recent court documents, the actress disputes Salaam's assertion that he suffered severe emotional distress due to alleged threats from her family's inner circle, which he says led to significant weight gain, the loss of a romantic relationship, and his temporary relocation abroad.

According to legal filings, Pinkett Smith argues that Salaam has failed to provide substantial evidence, such as medical records or third-party verification, to support his claims of emotional distress. She contends that his declaration about weight gain and other personal issues does not meet the legal threshold required for such a lawsuit.

The lawsuit stems from Salaam's allegations that Pinkett Smith publicly criticized him after he declined to assist Will Smith following the actor's Oscars incident. Salaam also claimed that threats were made against him after the Smith family learned he was writing a memoir that would include details about Will Smith.

In her response, Pinkett Smith has labeled all of Salaam's accusations as "false, uncorroborated and made to generate attention as part of an ongoing public campaign of harassment directed at" her family. She emphasized that she never mentioned Salaam by name in any public statements and is seeking to have the entire lawsuit dismissed by the court.
