John Starks Defends Knicks Coach Mike Brown: His Job Is Safe

Former New York Knicks star John Starks is pushing back against speculation that head coach Mike Brown's job is on the line. In an exclusive interview with TMZ Sports, Starks made it clear that Brown's position is secure, regardless of how the team's playoff run ends.

"No, no, there's nothing there," Starks said when asked about reports that Brown could be fired. "I know people are looking for something there. But there's nothing there."

Starks dismissed the notion that Brown is coaching for his job this postseason, noting that this is Brown's first playoff experience with the team. "Coach is doing what he's doing. It's his first time with the team as far as the playoffs, so he's getting adjusted to that part of it -- what guys do this, what guys do that. So, he's fine."

The comments come after writer Sam Amick suggested earlier this week that Brown, a two-time Coach of the Year, could be fired even if the Knicks reach the NBA Finals -- a hot take that surprised many, given Brown only joined the team last offseason.

Starks' vote of confidence should ease some of the pressure on Brown as the Knicks continue their postseason push.
