Johnny Marr Joins Pet Shop Boys for Rare Live Collaborations at Intimate London Show

In a special performance at London's Electric Ballroom, the Pet Shop Boys were joined by legendary guitarist Johnny Marr for a night of deep cuts and rarities. The collaboration marked the live debut of two songs and revived another track not performed in over two decades.

The show was part of the duo's 'Obscure' residency, a series of intimate concerts dedicated exclusively to lesser-known material from their extensive catalog. Marr took the stage after opening numbers 'Through You,' 'Will-o-the-wisp,' and 'Two Divided by Zero.'

Together, they performed 'The Truck Driver and His Mate' for the first time since 2002. Originally from the 1996 album 'Bilingual,' the song's revival was a highlight of the evening.

The set also included the first-ever live performances of 'Up Against It' and 'I Didn't Get Where I Am Today,' adding to the night's unique offerings. These debuts complemented other rare tracks featured throughout the residency, such as 'Jack The Lad' from 1986 and 'After The Event' from 2012.

The Electric Ballroom shows, announced last year, represent a deliberate shift from the band's usual hits-focused concerts. By focusing on obscure songs, Pet Shop Boys are offering dedicated fans a rare glimpse into the deeper layers of their musical legacy, with Marr's guest appearance providing an unexpected collaborative twist.
