Jon Rahm remains confident he will represent Europe in the 2027 Ryder Cup, despite currently being ineligible due to an unresolved conflict with the DP World Tour.
The Spanish golfer, speaking ahead of the Masters, addressed the ongoing dispute stemming from fines—reportedly exceeding £2 million—imposed for his participation in LIV Golf events that clashed with the European circuit's schedule. Although Rahm recently withdrew an appeal against these sanctions, he has not accepted a settlement similar to eight other players, which involved paying fines and committing to six DP World Tour events.
"Yes," Rahm affirmed when asked about his confidence in playing at Adare Manor in Ireland next September. "I have faith in us and the DP World Tour, that we are going to find a good solution."
The 2023 Masters champion, a key contributor to Europe's victory in the last Ryder Cup with three points, emphasized his desire to resolve the issue amicably. "I didn't think that going the legal route and going to court was good for anybody," he added. "We keep talking to them and we keep trying to negotiate. I have given in quite a bit in a few things. We're going to work it out."
Rahm, who has been on the winning team in three of his four Ryder Cup appearances, is a likely candidate for captain Luke Donald's squad as Europe aims for a third consecutive win. While uncertain about his current eligibility for DP World Tour events, Rahm noted it is not an immediate concern, as he plans to focus on the LIV season until August.
Looking ahead, he expressed interest in returning to several European tournaments, including the Irish Open in September. "I intend to continue to support the DP World Tour," Rahm stated. "The Irish Open has been very good to me and I would love to make a return. Wentworth has been fantastic every single year, the Spanish Open, maybe even the Dunhill. Those are events I'd love to have the chance to play."
Rahm begins his Masters campaign alongside Ryder Cup teammate Ludvig Aberg and American Chris Gotterup on Thursday, as he seeks a second green jacket.
