Football star Jorginho has addressed a recent security incident involving his 11-year-old daughter and pop singer Chappell Roan, describing it as a "misunderstanding" after initially expressing outrage on social media.
Last month, the former Chelsea and Arsenal midfielder posted on Instagram about an encounter at a São Paulo hotel where a security guard allegedly approached his daughter and wife in a "completely disproportionate" manner, leaving the child in tears. Jorginho's initial statement suggested the guard was part of Roan's security team.
However, Roan quickly responded, clarifying that the security guard was not affiliated with her personal team. A spokesperson for the singer told NME: "Chappell was not aware of any interaction between this mother/daughter and a third party security officer. She did not see them at breakfast in her hotel, as she said in her video. She did not direct her personal security or anyone on her team to interact with them."
Now, Jorginho has provided further context, explaining on Instagram that his original comments were made "in the heat of the moment, after hearing that my child and wife had been approached by an adult male security guard in an intimidating way."
"I reacted as any father would," he added. "My priority is, and always will be, protecting my family, and that is exactly what I did."
The incident appears to have been resolved, with both parties clarifying their positions. Jorginho currently plays for Brazilian club Flamengo, while Chappell Roan continues her rise as a pop sensation.
